Efficiency of Resource Use in Rainfed Maize Production System by Small-Scale Farmers in Central Agricultural Zone of Cross River State, Nigeria

The study determined resource use efficiency in maize crop production by small-scale farmers the Central Agricultural Zone of Cross River State Nigeria. It specifically examined allocative resources used rainfed area. Primary data were to conduct study. Statistical tools employed multiple regression analysis and index (AEI). results revealed that variables farm size (x1), capital (x3), fertilizer (x4), credit (x6), extension service (x7), seeds planted (x8) had a positive relationship with output maize. (AEI) various productive showed herbicides (x5) found be underutilized since their was greater than one (1) marginal value product (MVP) factor cost (MFC) while Labour(x2) over-utilized as less (1). Based on these findings, following recommendations made; should improve such land, capital, fertilizers, herbicide seeds. Labour maximally utilized create favourable return unit man day
